I honestly cannot remember a lazier, most relaxing and enjoyable weekend that I have had in a long time more than the one we had this past weekend. For the next few weeks we will pretty much be on the go every single weekend. We have some really fun weeks coming up! So, we decided we would spend the free weekend at home in Perryton.
Friday night after we both got home from work I started making dinner. On the menu was the Pioneer Woman's Spaghetti and Meatballs. OH. MY. GOODNESS. What a way to start off the weekend! (I keep forgetting to take pictures when I make food so, I stole this off the Internet.)
We were both in a food coma after this meal! It was wonderful! I HIGHLY suggest making it. I like to think Mitch married me because of my brilliant personality and my stunning good looks, but the truth is, I think it's mainly for my cooking. :) **I can cook with the best of them. Well, as long as I have a recipe.
**SIDENOTE: Cooking to me is like getting an hour long massage. I love it! And I think it is the best way for me to wind down after a long day. I just need my kitchen,
a glass of wine, a good recipe and about an hour (or two) and I am in the best mood. I have been told that I am a pretty good cook. To be honest, I just follow recipes I find that look/sound delicious! But as soon as 1 person told me how good my food was, it was a major ego boost and that is where my love of cooking began.
After dinner we decided to just leave the kitchen dirty, it's a sin, I know, and head to the couch. We spent the rest of the night just enjoying each other's company, hanging out on the couch, playing catch up on the DVR and watching a movie.
Saturday we were up and ready for an exciting OU Sooner Gameday! Mitch was supposed to play in a golf tournament, but luckily that got cancelled so he got to stay home and hang out with me and the pup! When we both have a Saturday or Sunday without plans, you can count on us making a HUGE breakfast. We love breakfast and we make it so frequently that we have pretty much perfected the amounts of food, food prep time, etc. Breakfast consisted of eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage. It makes me hungry just thinking about it! It was delicious! And I have to give it to my Hubster, I make the majority of the meals at our house, but when it comes to breakfast, he is right beside me helping the whole time. He makes some mean sausage gravy! Best I've ever had! After breakfast it was back to the couch for College Gameday. We spent the rest of the afternoon watching college football and waiting on 7pm when the game would start. This was a huge game for our Sooners. They are currently ranked #1 and were playing #5 Florida State in Tallahassee, FL so, Saturday was sure to be a good game. I wish I would have caught Mitch on video jumping around before the game and not being able to sit still. It was hilarious! We were both so anxious for the game to start. Well, the Sooners and the Seminoles did not disappoint, it was a great game indeed. It was a nail-biter to the very end. The Sooners ended up winning the game by 10 points, 23-13. It definitely one game that we were lucky to come out on top!
Sunday was pretty much just like Saturday, very lazy! I had made soup on Saturday afternoon and since we had so much leftover we decided we would make Sunday a soup day! We pretended it was freezing outside and snowing so, we cranked the A/C down and cuddled up on the couch with blankets and spent pretty much all day there watching movies. It was a perfect day!
We don't get to have free weekends very often so, this past weekend I am very grateful for. Sometimes you need to just slow down and enjoy a slow-paced weekend inside. I know there will come a time when we aren't able to be lazy and lay around and watch movies all day so I am thankful that I had this weekend with Mitch just to be able to enjoy each other. It was a weekend for the record books!
