Quick Catch Up

I am the worst blogger in the history of time!  Since I have not posted in forever, here's a quick catch up of what is going on in our world!  We have spent the majority of the summer preparing for the baby!

In May, we found out we are expecting a baby girl and we couldn't be more excited.  I am already positive she is going to have a shoe problem!  I think I have now bought her at least 5 pairs of shoes!  WHOOPS!  We have decided to name her Emma Elizabeth.  I just can't wait to see what she will look like.  We also celebrated our 1 year anniversary!  To say it has been an amazing year is an understatement.

In June, we took our last big vacation before Emma will be here.  We went to Vegas to celebrate my cousin Paul's wedding.  We had such a great time!  Also, we welcomed our newest member of the Day family, Eli.  Eli decided he would join us a few weeks ahead of schedule, but we are so blessed to add another member.

July is now almost halfway finished and it has been a great month.  We have celebrated Mitch's 29th birthday and are just a few short weeks away from mine.  We had a great 4th of July.  I LOVE fireworks and I think Emma does as well.  She was kicking and punching all during them!

And a little pregnancy update....  I am currently 27 weeks along.  We are almost to the third trimester.  To be honest, it has gone by pretty quickly.  Well, since the first trimester at least.  That first one was filled with morning sickness and that was not fun at all.  But everything is now going very smoothly.  The second trimester has been great.  In the last few weeks I have started to get a little more uncomfortable at night, but I blame that on our couch not being the most comfortable for a pregnant woman.  I have been sleeping well though and have learned to drink the majority of my liquids during the day so I don't wake up all hours of the night to go to the restroom.  I love getting to feel Emma kick and so does Mitch.  One of my favorite things is some nights when we are laying in bed, Mitch will lay there and talk to Emma.  It's adorable and I can't wait to watch what a wonderful Daddy he is going to be to our baby girl!

Here's me at 27 weeks!  She is starting to get out there!

And a Baby Makes 3

I know it has been a long, very long, time since I have blogged last.  Well, there is good reason.  We are having a baby!  We have been very busy with exciting things going on lately, but I feel like every time I went to blog, it always ended up me wanting to talk about the baby.  So, I apologize to everyone who has missed out on our daily lives for the last month and a half, but I have been busy growing a baby!

This morning I went back to the doctor for my 12 week appointment and everything looked great!  We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, which is clocking in at a steady 164 bpm!  We really couldn't be more excited.  I have posts that I will post as soon as possible that are from the last month and a half.  We are excited for the next month when we will get to find out exactly what Baby Day will be!  And last but not least, I am officially due Oct. 17th, 2012.

My Valentine

This year, since Mitch was going to be out of town on Valentine's Day, we decided to have a pre-party.  I made him dinner on Sunday night and he made dinner for me on Monday night.  What a great Valentine's Day it was!  Hands down, the best one we have shared yet!  Instead of all the money we would spend going out to dinner, we saved and actually made dinner at home and just enjoyed each others company.  Sunday, since it was cold and dreary, we just hung out at the house all day and watched golf!  Sounds like a typical Sunday at our house.  I finally started making dinner late in the afternoon.  I thought it would only take a little while, but it ended up taking forever, to say the least!  Whoops!  Here was the menu for our Sunday night dinner:  Chile Lime Crab cakes, Crab and Corn Chowder, Filet Mignon with Worcestershire Butter, Scalloped Potatoes and Fancy Bread Twists.  Lets just say that this night didn't go as planned in the kitchen so not everything turned out great!  And I learned a few important lessons.  The first lesson is that crab cakes should be a restaurant only meal.  I can not stand the smell of crab!  EWWW!  Although the crab cakes were awesome!!  And the corn chowder was out of this world.  Another thing I learned was that filets are the exact size of steak we should eat.  Don't get me wrong, we love ribeyes, but the filets were just the right size!  The bread didn't rise, so those were nixed from the meal.  All in all, we had a great time and more importantly, I got to hang out with my best friend, love of my life and forever valentine so I don't have any complaints!

Monday night we had round 2 of Valentine's dinner.  Mitch out did himself!  He made a Chicken, Tomato and Spinach pasta dish with a Caprese salad as an appetizer.  It was a great meal!  Afterwards, we headed to the couch and enjoyed some Bachelor before heading to bed.  All in all it was a great weekend!

What a great close to my Valentine's Day!

Girlfriends

Where oh where would I be without my girlfriends!  This past weekend we all met up in Tulsa for a girl's weekend.  It was so much fun!  Friday night we left OKC and headed to Tulsa.  We met up Mrs. Callie Keeney's house and freshened up before going to the airport to pick up the girls and head to see The Randy Rogers Band!  Ryan arrived safely on her flight from Corpus Christie, but Peel and Brynn weren't so lucky.  They ended up getting delayed in Dallas which threw a small kink into the plan.  Since their plane was delayed we ended up heading to the concert without them.

Since we were in college we have loved Red Dirt Country and The Randy Rogers Band is a particular favorite.  The concert was at the historic Cain's Ballroom.  It was such a fun venue!  The concert was great and more importantly we had a great time catching up with our best friends!

We brought our bags to the bar, NBD!!!

Saturday was a perfect day with my girlfriends!  We all woke up a little groggy after a fun night out!  We went shopping around Utica Square and then ate lunch before heading back to the Keeney household.  Instead of going out, we decided it would be much more fun to stay in, order take out sushi and just hang out, etc.  It was such a great evening!!!  I can't tell you how much these girls mean to me and how lucky I am to have such great friends I know I can count on for everything!

Vacation to Taos with the Deatherages

This past weekend we went to the mountains with my sister and her husband Cody.  Lauren is doing rotations for Pharmacy school and wasn't able to go in December to Taos, so we planned a weekend in January to go spend a few days in the cabin.  We had absolutely the most relaxing trip.  We arrived on Wednesday night and Mitch and I got the cabin ready for the weekend.  We met Lauren and Cody in Taos for dinner then, came home and played games and caught up with each other.  Thursday, Mitch and I spent the day being super lazy and just relaxed at the house.  Lauren and Cody went skiing in Angelfire and had a great time.

Friday, Lauren and I had a Sister day while the boys went skiing!  We went to Santa Fe and went to the Santa Fe School of Cooking for a "Bonus," class they were having.  It was a BLAST!!!!  We had so much fun!  Gwyn, my mother in law, has raved about this place for forever and we are hoping to go back this summer for more classes.  At the class, there is an instructor who goes over the recipes then, basically walks you step by step through the process of what she is making.  In the class we learned how to make an Authentic Mexican menu that included Mole Colorado with Chicken and Chayote Squash, Cabbage, Lime and Serrano Salad with a Radish, Lime and Chile garnish, Black Bean and Cotija Cheese Tamales and Tres Leches Cake.  Everything they made was fabulous!

This is Chef Deena.  She was great!

I know this looks upside down.  This is actually a mirror they have above the chef's table so you can see what they are cooking.

The finished product!  It was all delicious!

Saturday, we all went up to Taos mountain.  While the boys skiied, Lauren and I hung out at the Bavarian Restaurant and read and chatted.  The guys joined us for a great lunch!  The boys had a blast skiing and we had a great time enjoying each others company.

Mitch took the camera after lunch.  Such a pretty pic!

Saturday night after we got home from the mountain, Lauren and I tried to recreate the meal we had at the Santa Fe Cooking School.  It didn't turn out just perfect, but it was still great!  Sunday morning we packed up and headed back to Oklahoma!  We had such a wonderful trip and are blessed beyond words to have such great family we shared the trip with.

Goodbye Perryton, Hello OKC

Have a mentioned that it has been a crazy few weeks in Dayland?!?!  As if we weren't going nonstop with the holidays through the new year, the week we got home from Taos, we moved back to Oklahoma!  Which as stressful as moving is, it was an absolute joy to be moving since we were moving back to Oklahoma and would be living together again!  I headed out to Perryton Thursday, January 5th.  We packed and cleaned all night and all day Friday.  We spent Friday night in a hotel and headed home Saturday morning after all the cleaning was complete.

Will we miss Perryton?  Ehhhh, kind of?  I will miss the simplicity of Perryton and the minimal traffic.  As well as the friends we made there.  Perryton will always have a special place in Mitch and I's hearts.  It was the first place we lived as a married couple.  When I think about Perryton I will remember it being a very big year in our lives.  It was a great house where we had wonderful times and memories made!

The Perryton House

So, as of Saturday, January 7th, we are officially Okies again!  We are completely moved back in and I would say the house is about 95% finished.  Since we moved home, Mitch has had to make a few trips back to Perryton for few small loads that couldn't fit in the big move.  So, our garage is not completely finished, but it is getting very close.  My parents also came up and helped us put the finishing touches on the house.  With all these moves, I have definitely been learning exactly what I need as far as a kitchen, bedroom, living room and basically house in general goes.

We are thrilled to be back in Oklahoma City.  And I am especially happy to be living with Mitch full time again.  The last 3 months have been a pain not living together.  We have also enjoyed getting to see our friends on the weekends and during the week for dinners.  I have a feeling 2012 just may top 2011 on being the best year yet!  It is definitely off to a great start!

Winter Vacation in Taos Part 2

Since the last post was getting a little long, I decided to make this two posts.  And also because Mitch decided to take over 250 pictures in one night.  Yes, you read that right.  He was our paparazzi for New Year's Eve to say the least.  Everyone has AT LEAST 10 by themselves.  If you had a dance party it was closer to 40 of yourself. :)  But I'll get to that night in a second.

After the Teeples arrived on Thursday night, we had the gang complete.  Friday was declared as Spa Day!  Well, at least for some of us!  A few of the people still went skiing.  Since I am not a skier, I was happy I had friends for the whole time.  We had the best time at the spa!  That night we came home and had pizza and watched some football.  The Sooners won so, it was a fun night for our house!

Saturday, New Year's Eve 2011, was one of the more fun days I have had in a long time.  Everyone, minus Charlie and myself, woke up early to hit the slopes.  We stayed in a took our time getting ready, but had plans to meet up with everyone else on the mountain.  We got there in the afternoon and headed up the mountain back roads, in our 4-wheel drive truck.  And let me just say, it is a good thing we had it!  We were running a little behind so as soon as we were getting there everyone else was leaving to go skiing again.  But we didn't let that rain on our parade.  We then decided to sit at the bar and celebrate!

Here's to 2012!

After an hour or so, we had friends come and join us!
This is definitely one of my favorite pictures from the trip!

Once everyone was finished skiing and drinking on Taos Mountain we headed back to the cabin!  We spent all night playing games and hanging out.  I think we played Catch Phrase for at least 2 hours!  It was such a great time!  Here's the night in pictures!  I will start off with the cast of characters for the trip first since they are some of my favorites!

And here's how the night went.............

We had so much fun in the mountains with great friends!  We really couldn't ask for better friends than these couples.  They all made me laugh harder than I have in forever.  I wish I could post all 300 pictures from this trip because they are all hilarious!

To the Bolens, Carrolls, Skinners and Teeples,
You guys made this the best trip to the mountains ever.  Mitch and I are truly blessed to be able to call you dear friends of ours.  We truly cherish your friendships!  I look forward to many more trips to the mountains and hope that you will always join us!

I found a few friend quotes and I think they sum this group up pretty great!

"True happiness consists not in the multitude of friends, but in their worth and choice."
- Samuel Johnston

"It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them."
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together"
- Woodrow Wilson
