I'm Baaaaaack!

Last Monday, I officially moved back to Oklahoma City!  Notice I said I, not we. :(  I have moved back to Oklahoma City to work here.  Mitch on the other hand, is still working in our Perryton office.  So, we have to spend the week days away from each other, which has not been so fun for either of us!  I am living in our house in Moore with our good friends the Skinner's.  They are so nice to let me move in with them!

Although it is nice to be in one place for good, I am definitely ready for Mitch to be here full time.  Once he is here and we are settled it will be time to start looking for a house or place to build a house!  I can't wait!

Our Weekend in Texas for the RRS!

Last weekend we headed down to Dallas for one of my favorite weekends of the year!  We were in town for OU vs. Texas, aka Red River Shootout, Red River Rivalry and Texas Massacre!  This weekend you never know what to expect as far as how the game will turn out.  With rivalries the "best," team doesn't always win.

This weekend is always so much fun.  Living in Perryton, we decided we would fly into Dallas this time around.  What a great decision that turned out to be!  We landed in Dallas around 4pm and Friday and headed to the hotel.  We started getting ready for dinner right away.  We had decided that we should go eat early, go meet friends and not stay out late since we had to be up so early.  And since we flew we didn't have a car to drive in.  We thought we would try out the DART instead of catching a cab.  A 15 minute DART ride and a mile walk (in heels I might add) we were at our destination.  Since we never get sushi, we decided we would eat at Blue Fish Sushi and get our fill while we were in Dallas.  It ended up being a great choice!!  Blue Fish never seems to disappoint.  After dinner, we headed to the Anatole to meet up with some friends.  We had a great time mingling with them before leaving to head home to get to bed early.

Bright and early Saturday morning Mitch woke me up to get ready to head to the stadium.  One major thing I love about going to the OU/Texas game is that it is surrounded by the State Fair of Texas.  So, we walked into the fair around 8:30am and immediately bought a corndog and 2 beers.  Great way to start the day!  There have been multiple times in years past when we have looked for friends to meet up with and because it is so big, you can never find them.  Lucky for us, we basically ran right into friends this time around.  We met up with our good friends Austin and Callie Keeney.  Then, we all walked over to watch College Gameday.  While watching Gameday we found another group of friends, The Skinner's and the Pooschke's and all stood around the fountains drinking and catching up.

Since the game is typically at 11am every year, you always have to walk into the game before your ready.  So we started making our way to the stadium to enter around 10.  Mitch and I stumbled right onto tv while walking into the game.  If we would have planned it, it would have never happened.  Right as we were about to enter the stadium this security guard stopped us and said we couldn't go through because a "celebrity guest," was walking through here to be the surprise picker on College Gameday.  To our surprise it was OU's own pro basketball player, Blake Griffin, who now plays for the LA Clippers.  I was behind the camera taking pics, but Mitch made it on TV.  Although he was left hanging by Blake, he was happy none the less.

30 minutes before the game started, we entered the stadium.  If you have never been to the RRS, I highly suggest you go.  It is one of the best college football atmospheres you can find.  At the 50 yard lines the fans are split down the middle, half OU in crimson and half UT in burnt orange.  I feel so sorry for UT people having to wear burnt orange, can we say, UGLIEST COLOR OF ALL TIME!!!!!!  Well, the game was about to get underway when the guys made their picks on the game.  To all of OU fans delight, Lee Corso shot off one of the Roughnecks guns and picked OU!!!  Woohooo!!!  I think it was a good luck charm because we were in control of that game from the very beginning.  In the end it got a little ugly (in a good way).  OU won 55-17.  Needless to say, we love when the Longhorns come into the game ranked #11.

After the game, Mitch and I headed north to see friends and enjoy the rest of the day watching games at their house.  It was fun catching up with all of them and seeing 2 of my bestest friends in the process.  After watching games all day and hanging out with my besties, Mitch and I caught a cab and headed back to the hotel for the night.  I think I was asleep before he even had time to get in the shower.  It was a long, but great day!!  And we are so lucky we got to go down there for the big game and see friends in the process.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the weekend!

Red River Shootout

I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about this weekend!  The Red River Shootout, aka OU/Texas Weekend, is here.  Well, almost at least!  This is one of my favorite weekends in the fall.  Mitch and I have gone to Dallas for the game every year since we started dating.  And this time around we are actually going to the game.  I can't wait!!

I have such great memories from college of going down to Dallas for the big game.  I can remember showing up to On the Border downtown at 7am and standing in line for hours until they opened just so we get a seat in front of the TV.  I remember scrambling for a place to sleep at night.  Those were back in the day when you were young enough and had plenty of friends to just stay on the floor.  I can remember one OU/Texas we tried to fit around 12 people in a room.  There are so many fun memories surrounding this weekend for me.

Now things are a little different.  We don't try and pack everyone we know into a hotel room, but the weekend is something I look forward to no matter what!  This time around Mitch and I are staying in a hotel, ALONE.  I am not sure what I think about being in a hotel room at OU/Texas without 10 of my closest friends around me!  Haha!!  We have big plans for the weekend.  Friday night we are having a mini date night.  Since we have lived in Perryton, our sushi dates are no longer possible.  So, we are taking advantage of being in Dallas and going to go for sushi on Friday night at Blue Fish on Greenville.  We are both pumped!!  After dinner we are going out to meet our friends for crazy times I am sure.  Hopefully we get in at a decent hour because the Hubster has told me to be ready to leave Saturday morning bright and early, 7:30am, to head to Fair Park.  YES, you read that right.  Two fairs in one year!!  Lucky girl I am!  And to top it off, we are going to the game.  I can't wait!! I hope we beat the snot out of Texas!!

I know we will get older and have more priorities in our life, but I really hope we try to go to OU/Texas as many times as possible in the coming years.  It is one weekend that never seems to disappoint!  And I know this one will not be any different!

BOOMER SOONER!!!!!!!!!!

OU vs. Missouri

What is a weekend in the fall if you aren't watching football????  Not a fun weekend!  :)  Last weekend we got to see our OU Sooners play the Missouri Tigers.  We had such a fun filled day.  We hadn't seen my family in a few weeks so we decided we would start off the day with lunch with them at one of the best places in Norman, The Mont.  The Mont has been there for as long as Norman has been around I'm pretty sure.  In college we used to go there all the time to sit on the patio and sip on swirls!  They are must when you go to The Mont.  At lunch we met up with Lauren, Cody and Ben.  We loved getting to see them and spend a little family time together before heading out to tailgate.

All the boys in their OU Coach's Polo at The Mont for lunch.

After lunch we headed out to tailgate.  We visited a few different tailgates and saw friends we hadn't seen in forever!  I always love going back to Norman.  I wouldn't mind at all if it was where we spent the rest of our lives.  I am from Fort Gibson and it will always be home, but after moving to Norman for college and living there for 7 big years of my life, Norman is my second home.  Here's a few more pics from the day!

We're ready to tailgate!!

Look who we ran into!  Boomer Sooner!

After tailgating with Lauren and Cody, we went to our next tailgating location to see our good friends the Fischer's!  This is their first son, Gavin, and he is as cute as they come!  Him and "Uncle" Mitch had some bonding time.

After tailgating, we headed to the game!  We had so much fun sitting with our best friends, The Jordan's.  It is never a dull moment when we get to hang out with them.  We had such a great time!!  The Sooner's went on to win the game 38-28!  We love going to Norman for Game days!  We also decided at the Missouri game that we definitely are going to get our own tailgate with friends next year!  I can hardly wait!!

Night at the Fair

Last weekend we went to Oklahoma. We had so much fun! Friday we went to the fair with our good friends Tyson and Charlie. Between corn dogs, red velvet funnel cakes, cheese on a stick, pig races, people watching, bull riding and more late night food, we had the time of our lives. I hadn't been to the fair in a few years and boy did I miss it!

The Clydesdale horses were there and Charlie was in awe!  They were about 2-3 feet taller than her!

Us after the bull riding show!  We had a blast!!

Look what the boys won!!

After walking around for 3 hours, we got on the vibrated foot chairs!  Always nice!

We had a great time at the fair!!  I couldn't believe how long it has been since I went to the fair just to hang out.  And I am so excited to say that I get to go back this weekend!!!  We are heading down to OU vs. Texas weekend and to get in and out of the game, you have to go to the fair.  I can't wait!!!

What I Want Wednesday

Here are a few things I have come across lately that I "want" for Christmas, or fall.  Haha!

First off, I new pair of boots.  Heck, I live in the texas Panhandle, I might as well play the part, right?  these are Lucchese® 1883 Ladies Peanut Mad Dog Snip Toe Western Boots.  Fancy name!  I love them!  At the OU game this past weekend I saw so many girls running around in cowboy and it made me want a new pair.  And it reminds me of all the fun times I had in college with my girlfriends at the Wormy Dog!

Second, I need a new coat.  Now this is more of a need than want.  I have not had a new coat in a few years and if I don't get one, I may freeze to death this winter.  Here's the one I have my eye on. This is a Steve Madden Coat, Double Breasted Hooded Tweed Trench.  It's perfect!  I need it a little longer so I don't freeze my butt off, literally!

Now this is a big one!  I want a new mattress.  Isn't it funny the things you start wanting when you get older!  This bad boy is a double pillow top with deep pocket padding.  I am obsessed and would love to wake up to this on Christmas morning.  And by wake up to, I mean wake up in. :)

Next, some new bedding.  Although in reality, I really should wait on the bedding until we are in a new house.  I found this at Pottery Barn though and love it!  I wouldn't mind having the rest of the room either.

And last but not least, some new jeans!  And this chicks waistline.  You can always use a new pair of jeans.  I think these are so cute!  I could wear them with my new boots!

If anyone talks to Mitch anytime soon, please feel free to pass this on to him!  Thanks!

Thoughtless Thursday

So lately, I swear it is like I have lost my mind.  I am so stinking forgetful!  I have to set an alarm on my phone to remind me of just about everything or you can bet it will probably be forgotten.  And I will toot my own horn on the memory, I usually remember everything.  Here's what happened this morning.  Mitch and I annually go to the big OU vs. Texas weekend in Dallas every year.  Well, since we are in Perryton this year, it makes things a little more difficult.  We decided a few months ago to book flights since the drive is every bit of 6 hours.  We decided there was no way we would want to get up and have to drive home after partying with our friends all weekend in Dallas.  So, we booked flights from Amarillo.  We pretty much always book through Southwest, but this time the flights were expensive and the schedules weren't great so we ended up booking through Expedia.

Like I said, this was a few months ago when this was booked.  So, bring us to present day, well, 2 weeks ago.  I get a call from my mother in law and she needs me to work in OKC the week of OU/Texas.  So, I look to see if we have reservations to fly.  I can't find a confirmation flight email anywhere.  I then come to the conclusion that we did not book a flight after all and just decided to drive.  Like I said before, I remember things so this is not like me to just be like, oh, I guess we just didn't book a trip.  Well, this morning I decide to look at our itinerary for our trip to New Orleans mini trip and send it to myself because I never received an email confirmation of it.  When I go to look at the itinerary for the hotel, what do I find?  Oh you know, two confirmed flights to Dallas for OU/Texas weekend.

Now comes the hard part.  How do I go about telling my husband, who has made plans since I told him we didn't end up booking flights after he swore to me up and down we did?  We had made plans to go work in OKC, see his grandparents and Aunt and Uncle that are going to be in town and drive with friends of ours to Dallas for the weekend.  Here's the about how the convo went.....

Liz: Ummm Honey, guess what I just found?
Mitch: Oh there's no telling.  What's up?
L: We actually do have flights booked to Dallas for OU/Texas weekend?
M: (Walking over to my desk) WHAT?!?!  Liz, we are going to be in OKC now.
L: I know, that's the problem. :)
M: I told you we had reservations and you said you checked.
L: Well, I did.  Just not in the right place apparently.

So, I start working on seeing if we can A) Change our flights from Amarillo to leaving out of OKC.  B) Cancelling the flight all together. Well, lets just say from now on I will pay the extra $20 to get flight insurance just "in case," something happens.  It seems like I have a lot of "in cases," that go on in my life these days.  Well, changing our flight is out of the question.  They won't be able to change it.  And to cancel it, they won't refund your money, just give you a voucher to use them on a different flight within the next year.  So, I am listening and trying to understand what she is saying when she mumbles through "and they will charge you the $150/ticket fee when you re-book."  Excuse me, you are saying I will have to pay an extra $300 to re-book the later date flights that we already paid for?  Yes, only $150 per ticket.  ONLY????

Needless to say, I am glad my in-laws are flexible and didn't kill me when I called to tell them the news.  And Mitch just laughed at me and how dingy I can be at times.  Don't worry, the email address in Expedia has been changed and I learned if you don't immediately get an email confirmation, make sure you get one ASAP, or you (I) may forget you have a trip booked!  I am just thankful I found it now or it could have ended up us being in OKC and me getting an email reminder that we have a flight leaving tomorrow from Amarillo!  Now that would have caused some oroblems!  Lets hope this Thoughtless Thursday blog isn't one that is a weekly occurance!
